2010 season's (mostly) nautical activities
On Saturday the 11th Dec. was held the (brief) monthly Meeting closely followed by the Christmas Party. A good time was had by all, the photo competition was won by Roger Greenway with a view of Heybridge Basin 2nd and 3rd were both by John Hasselgren. Colin Brewer (right) was unable to pass on the Dutch Mop he received as acknowledgement for managing to flood his yacht with mud while adjusting the log's spinner. The excellent spread was laid on by the Constitutional Club and the fruit punch was delicious, nutritious and even better with a drop of Nelson's blood!   Colin Brewer

The Annual General Meeting took place on the 13th November  and was a lively meeting at which the new Skipper Les White (left) and committee were elected.
Retiring Skipper, Roger Whitney  related the events of the past year and our Purser Donald Neale reviewed the Accounts and reassured us that we were still solvent.
Subs for the current year are due and will remain unchanged at £45 family and £35 single membership. Furthermore to make the paying easier, direct payment  from your bank into the NSC's account by internet or phone banking will be available (see below).
Various trophies were awarded and notice given of the Annual Mini-Cruise (to Santander) and the intention to hold another RYA First Aid Course  (see Diary-Dates for more inf.). The next meeting and Christmas Party is on the 11th December.
A Full report of the meeting will appear in the December issue of the 'Bulletin'.

2010 RALLIES
* Brandyhole YC and Fambridge 9/10/2010 The easterly wind and tide were perfect for a pleasant sail to Brandyhole for a lunchtime get-together and there were still yarns unsaid to entertain ouselves for the evening at the Ferryboat. Sunday dawned bright and clear but our easterly wind was stiill there and made for a hard beat back to Burnham. Ten yachts  participated, namely  Picaroon, Spindrift, Reality, Lune Orbiter, Dry Fly, Parana, Barbary Heron, Juliet , Jackalope and Windhover
* West Mersea 18th September Lune Orbiter, Jackalope, Dry Fly and Parana, all single-handed enjoyed a fine meal in the W Mersea YC and were joined by the crews of Harlequin and Storm, who came by road. The trip home on Sunday was somewhat more lively than the easy sunny cruise on the previous day.
* Shotley 4th September The 'doubtful' weather forecast meant only Jackalope left the Crouch, the other three yachts came from The Netherlands - Barbary Heron, the Deben - Greenwitch and the Orwell -Pekatajo to enjoy a good meal at the Shipwreck -report
* Bank Holiday - Osea BBQ and Bradwell With a deterioration of the weather the Osea anchorage was untenable. The 5 NSC ships therefore, rallied in Bradwell marina for 2 or 3 days of relaxation and conviviality while the sun shined and the North wind blew. All had a fast sail home to the Crouch!
* Brightlingsea Rally 11 boats arrived, ate and drank their fill in this always-welcoming venue, and for those who lay abed the Sunday morn, a roller-coaster ride home over the Rays'n to Burnham in a   fresh to strong Northerly.
* Rice and Cole Moorings Fun Race was won in fine style by Spindrift of Hamble
* Heybridge Basin      Three yachts arrived after a fast passage with lumpy seas on the approach to the Blackwater.Other Members arrived by road for a convivial evening in the Old Ship.report

*Brightlingsea Timed Rally 3rd July - A light and variable breeze made this event more motoring than sailing -congratulations to the winner Windroos
* Bradwell Marina 26th June   The Easterly breeze made the first couple of hours out of the Crouch a slog, but the sunny day made up for it. seven yachts arrived, eventually, the last was stuck on the putty, waiting for the rising tide.

* Calais Rally 28-31 May      An enjoyable rally with 10 NSC yachts in attendance
